Employee Relations is about the understanding of the employment relationship between management and employees and their behaviour and interaction at work.

The importance of understanding and merging corporate, management and employee needs is essential to achieve optimum performance, commitment and effectiveness in an organisation.

All managers are responsible for ensuring good employee relations in their workplace. Maintaining good relations in challenging circumstances requires clear policy formulation & administration supported by advice from experienced practitioners. Typically some of the areas where skilled employee relations practioners are needed are in the areas of:

  • managing grievances
  • managing unsatisfactory performance
  • addressing misconduct
  • change management


Today's turbulent business environment makes increasing demands on managers and workforces as competitive standards rise and expectations of individuals increase. Managers must be aware of, and respond positively to changes in contemporary workforce attitudes if they are to achieve the performance levels they need.

High performance work practices coupled with good employee relations diminish employee turnover, increase productivity and organisational financial performance by improving employee motivation and engagement.

Our role is to provide strategic and operational expertise in employee relations. To achieve this aim we can support your organisation with practical advice to assist managers achieve solutions with employees fairly, sensitively and promptly. For employee grievances, we provide third party direction to managers and employees to encourage both parties to find solutions at the lowest possible level in order to avoid the involvement of external bodies such as the human rights and equal opportunities commission.

We manage this process in the context of your employee grievance framework, or can assist in developing a policy platform to promote consistency in the way similar matters are managed across your organisation.
