Today was Pink Ribbon day! Pink Ribbon Day was established to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research.
It
was great effort by all involved. Team Dekro managed to raise over
$520.00 in just over 2 hours by selling Pink Ribbon products. Just as
importantly we helped to raise awareness for breast cancer research
floating around in our Pink T-shirts outside Flinders Street Station
and Federation Square selling ribbons, pens, key chains and gathering
donations for a great cause.
Despite
Paula and Grant "fishing up stream" at the train station, and then
having to go back on request to Federation Square, we persisted and
remained focused on the cause and managed to find the great location at
the bottom of the stairs of Flinders Street Station. Paula came up with
the single biggest donation of $50.00 - location, location, location.
A
big special mention must go to Deanne and Michelle, the super dynamic
duo, who would be just as comfortable on a microphone outside of
Dimmeys peddling wares to all and sundry or working on a stall at the
show. No person was left untouched by this team as the unsuspecting
commuters found this morning.
A
big effort and much appreciated thank you to Chris for being there
despite having her arm in a sling. In a word - solid! However,
undoubtedly the great moment of the morning was Doug in a hot pink t.
Mate, you looked...special. With a little bit of bling I think you
could have looked fabulous.
Thank
you to all from Dekro who volunteered to get up early to make it to
Federation Square for the 6.00am start. We reap what we sow and doing
something for someone other than you always has its own rewards in
life. As a business that is focused on people, the team at Dekro will
look to provide more community support in the future.
A
big thank you to Paula for organizing the whole event. It was a great
morning for a great cause and your efforts to organise were very much
appreciated.
Lets
go for a bigger turn out and bigger turn over for breast cancer
research next year, which will include the guys in QLD as they will be
settled in well and truly by then.
